Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb s beef sirloin or ribeye, thinly sliced
  • 1 Asian pear, grated (or 2 tbsp pear juice)
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp rice wine (mirin)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • steamed rice, for serving
  • lettuce leaves (optional; for wrapping)

Steps

  1. 1

Whisk together grated pear, soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, rice wine, and black pepper.

  2. 2

Toss sliced beef with the marinade, onion, and green onions. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to overnight.

  3. 3

Heat a grill, grill pan, or large skillet over high heat.

  4. 4

Cook beef in batches without overcrowding, about 2-3 minutes per side until caramelized and cooked through.

  5. 5

Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve with steamed rice and lettuce leaves for wrapping.

Save it, plan it, cook it.
